We did what?! UNL board members Suzy Stever & Greer Hunt (with the help of Nick Delaney) attended the 2011 Physical Education Special Interest Council (PESIC) conference to promote and explain Ultimate to the physical education teachers of Newfoundland.

So what does this mean?

30+ gym teachers have learned a greater knowledge about Ultimate and therefore will be able to teach their students how to better understand the spirit and competitiveness of Ultimate!

Each teacher will approximately have atleast 3 different gym classes of 30 or so youth, which, pretty much means that Ultimate will be taught to around 3000 kids this school year. Not to shabby UltimateNL.

Thanks to all the teachers for coming out at 9:00am and we hope to see you next year!

Any questions or comments please email youth@ultimatenl.ca!

Thanks to everyone that came out for a fantastic day of Ultimate.  Toilet Bowl went off without a hitch, and good times were had by all.  There was a lot of really good ultimate being played and the heckling was supurb!

Congratulations to team Sparse who went undefeated for the tournament.  As their name indicates, they were short a couple of players and this was the first tournament where the team with the most players did not win.  Team Sparse was made up of Kevin Schmidt, Shervin Azad, Ange Learning, Erin Daly, Jess Wade, Craig Stoyles and Rob King.  Way to take one for the team, Erin.

Good job Throne for making them work for it!

Photos to come.

Thank you to everyone that came out for some fun in the sun today.  The ladies played a 5 on 5 round robin with three teams and got in a lot of running and throwing.  Congratulations to the Blue men’s team for winning their side of the tournament and finishing the tournament undefeated.  Head nod to Red for giving them a run for their money in the final.

The Art Hawkins’ Great Canadian Ultimate Game is an annual charity event that takes place across the country. It is a 24 hour continuous game of ultimate.

Our province participated yet again and raised $265. There were 25 participants who played at the Team Gushue Sports Complex in Mount Pearl. At 6:30 am the current score of the game was received from Victoria, B.C. At 7:30 the score was passed on to Charlottetown P.E.I. After the 24 hours the final score was 271-269; with the team playing for Ultimate Peace edging out the team playing for the Boys and Girls Club of Canada.

A big Thank You! to Keith Smith and the Gushue Sport Complex Field Turf for donating the Field for this event
